“Waiting for superman” in USA Schools...

The fate of our country won't be decided on a battlefield,
it will be determined in a classroom.
It seems as if we in South Africa are not the only ones with under-achieving schools. The USA has the same problem. A documentary film “Waiting for superman” has recently been made on the issue. What the film seems to advocate is widespread reform of the public school system, ranging from longer school terms to more stringent accountability standards for teachers. Read more here:

It seems as if the movie is causing quite a storm.... :

The filmmakers of "Waiting for Superman" ask a provocative question - Do failing neighborhoods produce failing schools, as conventional wisdom suggests, or do failing schools produce failing neighborhoods?

Our own South African schools have been described recently as "breeding grounds for gangsterism."
