Daar word op die oomblik in die kerk meer gepraat oor self-ontplooiing as oor self-opoffering.-Anon.......As ‘n kerk haar woorde begin devalueer, dan word die kerk ‘n ramp vir die volk. - K Schilder

Yes to Jesus! No to Porn, Prostitution, Abortion, Crime, Trafficking, Gambling & Corruption!

It’s amazing what happens when the Body of Christ unites against social evils like pornography, prostitution and blasphemy. In every instance where the Church reached across man made divides and fulfilled its Biblical mandate to be “Salt & Light” to society - God gave us the victory.

Multichoice’s announcement last Thursday that they will not proceed with their 24 hour porn channel is a victory for every responsible and decent citizen and especially those who took the trouble to make their voice heard. Increasingly, Christian citizens are realizing they possess enormous power to shape their culture. Prayer followed by action produces surprising results if we have the courage of our convictions.

In Feb 09 thousands of Christians across the country voiced their displeasure at blasphemous cartoons that mocked Christ in UCT’s Sax Appeal magazine. Since then, I have not witnessed similar depictions in the media – except for a live "art" skit portraying Jesus dancing in high heels.

Last year thousands of Christian citizens responded to my appeal to submit their comments on legalised prostitution to the SA Law Reform Commission. This unified action by the Body of Christ defeated attempts by anti-family groups to have prostitution legalised for the World Cup Finals.

Significantly therefore, defending the family and advancing Biblical Christian values in society is the vital & necessary social responsibility of every Christian citizen in South Africa – without exception!
You and I, guided by the Lord must work to shape & influence our culture for the benefit of all.

My meeting with Home Affairs Deputy Minister, Malusi Gigaba & Films & Publications Board CEO, Yoliswa Makhasi was widely reported in the media see here: More Porn Restrictions
I asked the Justice Alliance of South Africa (JASA) to draft legislation prohibiting porn from the public domain including strictly regulating its dissemination – for the Deputy Minister’s approval.

FPI’s work on prostitution and its links to human trafficking is receiving global media attention. My interview with Canada’s Metro Global News in which I am inexplicably referred to as Mr. Vandoo can be viewed here. http://www.metronews.ca/vancouver/world/article/475376--south-africa-expects-pre-world-cup-prostitution-boom

The following article, in German, appeared in a Swiss online newspaper entitled, "For the traffickers, the World Cup has started" You computer may have the software to translate the story.

I also had a chat with the ESPN Sports Network in the US who are keen to send a television crew to South Africa soon to shoot a documentary on the sex trafficking angle of the World Cup Finals.

The Gambling Review Commission, as appointed by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, will embark on a series of public hearings across the country to review the socio-economic impact of gambling since its legalization in South Africa, and the effectiveness of the current policy and regulatory framework for gambling.

The public consultations form part of governments’ commitment to work with the public by encouraging ordinary citizens to take part in the process of reviewing the existing gambling policies. Wonderful, thanks Liza for keeping us informed. The pen is indeed mightier than the sword, in many instances!
